Ok, Ok I am going overboard here a little, well, maybe a lot. I have spent the last six months studying as many market type gurus as I could stuff into my brain. And now I am ready to explode. I read more sales letters with super size print, big explosive statements and amazing promises. Adjectives rule. Declarative statements rule.

“This program is awesome”, “Do you want to have an absolutely fabulous, knock your socks off life?“, and “How far are you willing to go to create your dream job”.

Let me tell you that they do work. I have signed up for more then ten email newsletters, tips are pouring in and I have listened to many experts on many teleconference calls. Finally I decided to purchase two programs; one is Alexandria K. Brown’s, Boost Business with Your Own E-zine and Fast Track Your Dream and A Community of Dreamers and Doers, by Valerie Young. Ali’s program is over two hundred pages long so this newsletter might not change its look for a couple of months. What have I been learning?

People are hungry for information. They are hungry for information that will make their lives better, help them pursue their dreams, and how they be successful in forwarding their own information. I already had a lot of information in bits and pieces but now it seems to be coming together. I have enjoyed listening to Kim Castle of BrandU. She has a spiritual aspect to her work and her take on branding was something I had not heard before. Caroline Myss in her CD program, Your Power to Create, from Wishful Thinking to True Manifestation, woke me up from fairy land. Caroline is not a wallflower, her take on things can be hard to hear but she does have you operate from a good solid foundation. She is the trusted friend that tells you to snap out of it and brings you back down to planet earth.

Fantasy, dreaming and a little foray into wishful thinking doesn’t hurt but at some point you must come down to earth and really do the work. Getting more stuff might make you momentarily happy but it gets old.

So what to do? We all want to feel we have lives that are of value. Ask yourself, what kind of person do I want to be? Once you have established that then you have the frame to build the kind of life that really supports you and reflects your values. As an example, you want to be the kind of person who values the lives and of others and would like to help people thrive. You could then become a life coach and work with people as they better their lives. Or you could go into the non-profit sector and provide ways that homeless families could get affordable housing, a better education or healthcare. Another possibility is becoming the kind of person that really lives her spiritual values. You could become a minister and live out those values through leadership or maybe you want a simpler life that values the earth and you live an eco-friendly lifestyle.

The world is full of information. You must seek it out; have a discerning eye for separating the wheat from the chaff. The world can seem bleak at times but it is up to us to be the light bearers for the world. If we put our true selves out in the world, living out our best values, then maybe we can implement some useful long term change.
